What is People Need People?
People Need People is a mobile app for curated, one-to-one introductions and meaningful, platonic conversations. When you’re in the mood for a conversation, the app helps you connect with someone who’s ready to join you.
Is People Need People a dating app?
No. Introductions are made for platonic conversation and companionship, without romantic or sexual expectations. Respectful boundaries are an essential part of the experience.
Are the conversations virtual?
Yes. People Need People is designed to help you meet people beyond your local community. Conversations happen virtually, so your introduction may live anywhere across North America.
Are conversations by voice or video?
Voice is the default. We want conversations to feel comfortable and focused, without the expectation of being camera-ready. If both people would prefer video, they are welcome to use it, but neither person is expected to.
How do you help keep the community safe?
Before participating, every member will be required to complete identity verification. Our verification provider will check a government-issued photo ID and use a selfie to confirm that the ID belongs to the person signing up. Identity verification is not a criminal background check and cannot guarantee someone’s behavior. Use good judgment, avoid sharing sensitive personal or financial information, and share contact details only when you feel comfortable. You can end a conversation and report concerns at any time.
How often can I meet someone new?
Tap “Start a conversation” whenever you’re in the mood to meet someone new. The app looks for a good available partner. Finding an introduction depends on who’s available at that moment.
How are introductions selected?
The app uses your profile, interests, conversation preferences, and boundaries to choose a good available conversation partner. The goal is a worthwhile conversation, whether you share familiar interests or bring different perspectives. There is no public compatibility score.
What comes with each introduction?
You both receive shared conversation prompts personalized from your profiles. They give you a natural place to begin, with room to follow the conversation wherever it goes.
Will we always have things in common?
Usually there will be some point of connection, but you may also have different experiences, interests, or perspectives. That balance is intentional. The best conversations often begin with something familiar and lead somewhere unexpected.
What if nobody is available?
If the app doesn’t find a good match quickly, your live search ends. With notifications enabled, you may later receive a selective invitation when someone compatible is looking for a conversation. There’s no scheduling or pending introduction.
How do conversation invitations work?
An invitation asks, “Are you free for a conversation now?” If you’re interested, return to the app to confirm. You only connect once both of you confirm you’re ready. If you’re busy, you can ignore the invitation.
How long are conversations?
There’s no set length. Talk for as little or as long as you both like. You can end a conversation whenever you need to.
How do I get started?
Create a simple profile in the mobile app, then tap “Start a conversation” when you’re ready. The app chooses a good available partner and connects you once you both confirm readiness. You can edit your profile anytime.
Can I reconnect with someone I’ve met?
Yes. People you’ve met remain in your history, so you can contact them again. Staying in touch is up to both of you, and there’s no expectation that every introduction becomes a friendship.
What if we do not click?
That is okay. A conversation does not have to become a lasting connection to be worthwhile. You might gain a new perspective, hear an interesting story, or simply practice being open to someone outside your usual world.
Is this only for people who are lonely or introverted?
Not at all. People Need People is for anyone who wants more variety, curiosity, and human conversation in their life. Some members may be introverted. Others may already have active social lives but rarely meet people outside their usual circles.
Can I choose exactly who I meet?
You can share your preferences and boundaries in your profile. The app chooses your new conversation partner; there’s no browsing, swiping, or member directory. You can still reconnect with people you’ve already met through your history.
What behavior is expected?
Members are expected to be respectful, curious, and considerate. Harassment, discrimination, unwanted romantic or sexual advances, and pressure to continue communicating are not acceptable.
What if someone makes me uncomfortable?
You can end any conversation and report a concern to People Need People. We will review the situation and take appropriate action to protect the community.
Who can join?
People Need People is intended for adults 18 and older who are open to respectful, platonic conversations with people from different places and walks of life.
How much will the app cost?
Joining the waitlist is free and does not commit you to a purchase. App pricing will be announced before launch.
Do I need to be available all the time?
No. Start a search when you’re ready for a conversation. You can ignore invitations when you’re busy or turn off conversation notifications when you’d prefer not to receive them.
